First Ever North Sulawesi Underwater Photography Shootout

Are you an underwater photography enthusiast? Do you love taking pictures of marine life? Are you planning your 2018 diving vacation?

Stay at either Murex Manado or Murex Bangka and join the first ever North Sulawesi Underwater Photography Shootout from 1st to 3rd April 2018.

You’ll make 10 competition dives over the course of these three days and competition categories include: Small Exotic Animals, Compact Cameras, Seascapes and Portraits. If you are more interested in shooting video than photographs there is also a videography category ‘Celebrate the Sea in 80 seconds’.

 

The prizes are massive and include $35,000 in resort stays and diving packages as well as a US $5,000 cash prize for the “Master of the Competition Award”. The Shootout is open to underwater photographers and videographers staying at participating resorts in North Sulawesi (Manado, Bunaken, Bangka and Lembeh) so the heat is on.

Our teams of Dive Guides at both Murex Bangka and Murex Manado are all excited about leading the competition dives over these days and finding the rarest critters and the most beautiful marine life for Murex participants.

Registration for the event is US $50 which allows submission of up to 10 images or one video, an upgrade is available for an additional US $35 which provides for another 8 images or one more video. For competition entry terms and conditions please check here.

 

For those participating in the shootout we recommend arriving in resort at least a few days prior to the competition days in order to enjoy some photography dives beforehand. During the three days we’ll aim to take you to the best dive spots for your camera setup – wide angle or macro. It promises to be an exciting event!

The shootout is taking place as part of the Celebrate the Sea Festival which includes key note speakers and is aimed at banning single use plastics and the sale of shark fin in Manado. Please note, there is no surcharge for staying at Murex during these dates (published diving and accommodation rates apply) and entering the Shootout (registration fees only).
